BEE Awesome Brief: The Best Bet I Can Make
sent by Julie Bee | May 4, 2023
I’ve had some self-doubt lately, but I’m still putting all my eggs in one basket.
Big Idea
In a recent interview with Mark Drager of Phanta Media, we discussed the theme behind his podcast, We Do Hard Things. We discovered a consistent theme in our careers as entrepreneurs – we bet on ourselves. What does that look like? We take action and go for it. We take risks. My catchphrase has become, “Swing for the fences.” We focus on what we can control to move the ball down the field. We do hard things. This inspired this week’s big idea: Betting on the one thing we CAN control (ourselves) is one of the best and safest bets we can make.
Easy Action
Betting on yourself is easier said than done. To gain the confidence to do so, review recent obstacles you overcame to achieve a goal. Once you remind yourself that you have done hard things, betting on yourself becomes easier. Then, pick that one goal that scares you a little (or a lot). Decide on one action towards that goal you can do today. Then – bet on yourself by taking that action.
Elevate Your Business
You will win some; the more significant the bet, the bigger the win. You will lose some as well. But you never really lose. If you strike out, you learn a lesson that prepares you for future success. When you bet on yourself and swing for the fences, you’ll either have a big win or learn a valuable lesson. As long as you get up and try again, either of those outcomes can elevate your business.
